We know perfectly well about the importance of hygiene. Too bad, we rarely remember that keeping our eyes healthy is as crucial. No matter the age, we should devote a moment daily to properly care for the eyes.
Experts warn us. People are spending more and more time in front of computers or gazing at smartphones. Even though there are no longer so many devices emitting the harmful light, our eyesight gets fatigued anyway. Too intense or too weak light always has a bad impact on the eyes – just like the excessive exposure to the sunlight or too many eye care and makeup products (often mismatched). How to care for the eyes?
DIET
The food you eat has a huge influence on the quality of the eyesight. If you make sure you deliver the appropriate nutrients, it’s possible to delay the development of vision defects. Eyes mostly need vitamins A, C and E, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and lutein. Eating food rich in these substances [carrots, spinach, nuts, sunflower seeds, fish] allows for keeping the eyes healthy.
EXERCISE
You can exercise your eyes, too. I don’t mean some exhaustive marathons. All you need to do is introduce some habits – a relaxing walk in a park, an hour at the swimming pool or playing football with friends. Depending on the things you like, add a dose of activity to your daily schedule to both keep fit and care for the eyes.
SLEEP
Exercising is important but you can’t forget that the lack of enough sleep is as damaging for the eyesight as laziness. Let’s not go from one extreme to the other. Eyes are going to thank you for the good dose of sleep. No redness, irritation or dryness.
COSMETICS
Discomfort, dryness, watering eyes – caused by staying too long in dry-air rooms, frosty wind or lack of sleep – can be reduced e.g. with eye drops. Moisturising eye drops bring relief but if you already struggle with an eye inflammation, go for some kind of medication. For the full eye care, use lash serums which help keep eyelashes healthy, prevent lash loss, breakage and thinning.
EYESIGHT TESTS
Regular eyesight check-ups are the most important. Once in two years is the minimum. Don’t neglect that because an eye doctor is the only person who can quickly diagnose possible ailments and prevent the deterioration of your eyesight.
